49th Annual Bird Week.
100 Years on the Mountain
1–8 November 2026
For almost five decades, bird lovers have travelled to O’Reilly’s to walk beneath the rainforest canopy, listen for familiar calls and search for some of Australia’s most remarkable birds.
This November, join our guides, researchers, photographers and fellow birders for seven extraordinary days. Birders will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of Australia’s most well-known bird researchers, authors and photographers as they spot over 200 species of the 230 varieties residing in our World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park – which is home to Australia’s largest collection of sub-tropical birds.

Birds
They’re the reason we’re all here.
Albert’s Lyrebirds on the forest floor. Regent Bowerbirds flashing through the canopy. Paradise Riflebirds calling above — and perhaps the elusive Rufous Scrub-bird you’ve been hoping to find.
Slow down, listen closely and let the rainforest reveal what it will.
Have you got your bird wish list ready?
Experiences
Go where the birds take you.
From dawn chorus and rainforest walks to eucalypt country, wetlands, coastal waders and night birding, every excursion opens up a different habitat — and a different chance to find something special.
The more of the week you experience, the more the landscape reveals.
Which excursion will deliver your Bird Week moment?
Experts
Local knowledge changes everything.
Bird Week brings together an exceptional line-up of field guides, researchers, conservation specialists and wildlife photographers — people with decades of experience studying, photographing and finding birds throughout Lamington and beyond.
They know the habitats, recognise the calls and understand when it’s worth stopping, listening and waiting just a little longer.
Who would you want beside you when your most-wanted bird finally calls?

Diversity. Discovery. Development.
One of the real strengths of Bird Week is the sheer variety of habitats you can experience in a single program — from subtropical rainforest and ancient Antarctic Beech forest to eucalypt country, escarpments, valleys, wetlands and coastal wader habitat.
Each excursion opens up a different landscape, a different group of species and another chance to find something you simply won’t see elsewhere in the week.
That’s why the 7-day Bird Week package is so worthwhile: it gives you the time to explore broadly, follow the birds across changing habitats and avoid missing the field trip that could deliver your most memorable sighting of the week.
